Childhood Neurotherapeutics Partners Team Up to Recruit Endowed ChairsGreenville Hospital System University Medical Center (GHS), Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), and University of South Carolina (USC) have organized search committees in hopes of recruiting three endowed chairs for the Childhood Neurotherapeutics Center: Endowed Chair in Translational Therapeutics, Endowed Chair in Child and Adolescent Neruochemistry, and Endowed Chair for Basic Research in Childhood Disorders. Heading up the search committee for the Endowed Chair in Translational Neurotherapeutics is Desmond Kelly, MD, medical director of GHS' nationally ranked Division of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics. This chair will be based at GHS, with an academic appointment at the USC School of Medicine. Focusing on autism, the Endowed Chair in Translational Neurotherapeutics would most likely be collaborating with the Greenwood Genetics Center, where preliminary research projects and testing are already taking place. She has appointed Roger Sawyer, PhD, senior associate dean for Natural Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences to chair the search committee for the Endowed Chair in Child and Adolescent Neurochemistry, which will be based at USC. Specifically, this search committee will be looking for someone with training in behavior/neurologic approaches with substantial experience using functional brain imaging to address questions concerning cognition and behavior.
