| The South Carolina Partnership for Health is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation that develops and implements targeted initiatives to improve the safety, quality, accessibility, and cost-effectiveness of health care in South Carolina. The three member organizations of this newly formed corporation are HSSC, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, and the South Carolina Hospital Association. The corporation seeks to enhance the competitiveness of South Carolina by improving the health of its citizens through a commitment to implementing health care improvements using the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s “Triple Aim” framework.
The organization’s first focus will be on piloting and testing solutions that will reduce preventable hospital readmissions. Future projects may include jointly identifying solutions to health care–associated infections and working to implement evidence-based practices to care for those with chronic diseases.
“For academic leaders, insurers, and health care providers to come together statewide in South Carolina to tackle the Triple Aim, using a community collaborative approach, is a first in the nation.” —Maureen Bisognano, president and CEO of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement
