Our Accomplishments

In March 2009, HSSC joined the South Carolina Hospital Association (SCHA), PHT Services, and Mothers Against Medical Error in hosting the Second Annual Patient Safety Symposium in Columbia. More than 200 healthcare professionals and advocates gathered to share and promote best practices in patient safety and healthcare quality. HSSC Board Chair and Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System CEO and President Ingo Angermeier served as master of ceremonies.

The Patient Safety Symposium included the announcement of the 2009 Lewis Blackman Patient Safety Champion Award winners: Donna Isgett, RN, MSN, McLeod Health, Healthcare Executive Award; David Marsh, MD, a neonatologist at Palmetto Health Richland, Caregiver Award; Diane Parker, Advocacy Award.
