Forbes Nonprofit Council Is an Invitation-Only Community for Chief Executives in Successful Nonprofit Organizations

Our President and CEO Kenneth R. Deans Jr. has been accepted into the Forbes Nonprofit Council, an invitation-only community for chief executives in successful nonprofit organizations.

Here at HSSC, we aim to bring together research universities, health systems, and other partners to further clinical research, population health, quality, and data exchange initiatives. Founded in 2004, this consortium includes the state’s largest healthcare systems and the state’s three research universities.

Deans joins other Forbes Nonprofit Council members, who are hand-selected, to become part of a curated network of successful peers and get access to a variety of exclusive benefits and resources, including the opportunity to submit thought leadership articles and short tips on industry-related topics for publishing on Forbes.com.

Forbes Councils combines an innovative, high-touch approach to community management perfected by the team behind Young Entrepreneur Council (YEC) with the extensive resources and global reach of Forbes. As a result, Forbes Council members get access to the people, benefits, and expertise they need to grow their businesses — and a dedicated member concierge who acts as an extension of their own team, providing personalized one-on-one support.

“I’m honored and excited to join such an esteemed group of leaders from across industries who are so passionate about driving advancement and improvement within their organizations and communities,” said Deans, who has nearly 30 years of workplace experience in the defense and healthcare industries, 20 specifically within non-profit healthcare, including serving in "c-level" roles there for the past 14 years.

Deans continued, “My intent is not only to share with the Council the exciting and innovative work taking place at HSSC (conducted both by our staff and our member organizations) as we attempt to tackle our own novel problems and seek to improve health outcomes in South Carolina, but to learn from this network of thought leaders by listening to their challenges, new ideas, and creative solutions. It’s through collaborative investigation and iterative problem solving that we can all succeed together.”

Scott Gerber, founder of Forbes Councils, says, “We are honored to welcome Ken Deans into the community. Our mission with Forbes Councils is to curate successful professionals from every industry, creating a vetted, social capital-driven network that helps every member make an even greater impact on the business world.”
