HSSC Participates in the 13th Annual South Carolina Obesity Summit

November 23, 2016

On October 24th, Health Sciences South Carolina (HSSC) participated in the 13th annual South Carolina Obesity Summit hosted by the Eat Smart Move More coalition. The event was held in West Columbia and was sponsored by the Department of Health and Environmental Control, Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System and the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association as well as many more sponsors including HSSC. The conference brought together professionals and community members to learn about and build partnerships in the effort to reduce obesity across the state. HSSC’s sponsor exhibitor booth gave HSSC the opportunity to engage summit attendees and promote the services we offer to our members, as well as non-members. More than 90 individuals visited the HSSC booth and HSSC received 16 requests to collaborate with our supporting organizations. Collaboration requests ranged from identifying healthy living speakers to educate children and senior citizens, to working on projects focused on reducing prediabetes in rural South Carolina. Helping to create new partnerships for our member organizations is just one of the many ways that HSSC makes good health possible!
