Tianjin Medical University

Founded in 1951, Tianjin Medical University (TMU) was the first medical university established after the foundation of the People’s Republic  of China. It is one of the first universities in China to get the recognition of the World Health Organization and one of earliest to acquire the approval by the Ministry of Education to accept overseas students. TMU began accepting foreign students in the 1960s. Today, TMU has more than 1,430 foreign students from 64 countries. TMU’s International Medical School is in charge of the recruitment, education, and management of foreign students. Based on qualified teachers and favorable teaching facilities, the medical courses taught in English have been offered for nearly 20 years and welcomed by students coming from countries using English as the official language. Diplomats, presidents of medical council, and reporters have visited TMU many times and speak highly of the environment and education of foreign students.
