Xiaoming Li, PhD, joined HSSC in 2016 as the organization’s first Chief Analytics Officer with the responsibility of developing a strategic data acquisition and analytics roadmap to support current stakeholder needs, while strategically positioning HSSC for the future. In addition to his role at HSSC, Xiaoming is a Professor in the University of South Carolina (USC) Arnold School of Public Health Department of Health Promotion, Education and Behavior, and a SmartState Endowed Chair in the Center for Healthcare Quality.
An expert in research methodology and advanced statistics, Xiaoming was a Professor and Founding Director of Wayne State University School of Medicine Pediatric Prevention Research Center prior to joining USC and HSSC. He also served on the faculties of the University of Maryland and West Virginia University Schools of Medicine. Xiaoming has been a principal investigator (PI) or site PI on 12 research projects and co-investigator on 28 research projects, most supported by funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He is experienced in health disparities and health risk behaviors research and perceptions among minority adolescents and other vulnerable or at-risk populations. He has worked on HIV-related prevention/intervention research in the United States, China, Namibia, Viet Nam, Bahamas, Zambia, and India. Xiaoming has served as a member on SMATHA HIV/AIDS Standing Review Committee (2000-2002) and is a chartered member (2010-2016) of NIH Study Section on Behavioral and Social Consequences of HIV/AIDS (BSCH).
