This powerful software allows the user to visualize data geographically and to perform statistical analyses on mapped information.

Background

HSSC provides custom geographic analyses using approved and available data either from the CDW or merged external sources provided by the researcher or clinician utilizing an ArcGIS-based system. HSSC leverages the expertise of the University of South Carolina Department of Geography to enable studies focused on public health research, clinical research, or quality improvement research. ArcGIS can be accessed on a pre-approved basis.

How to Use

Access to ArcGIS is available to members of our supported organizations. Log in credentials must be created for all new users. To request new log in credentials please complete the “Request Information” form below.

Question Can I access ArcGIS?

If you are a affiliated with any of our supported organizations, then you are eligible to access ArcGIS through HSSC. 

Question Is training available for ArcGIS?

HSSC does not currently offer GIS training. However ESRI, the makers of ArcGIS, offers a number of free online training modules. Most beneficial to first time users is “Getting Started with GIS”.
